About Da3m0ns
I am an experienced Ethereum node operator, running nodes since the genesis of the network. My expertise includes maintaining high uptime, securing node operations, and participating in the network's consensus mechanisms. I have experience running all consensus and execution clients and am currently maintaining a reth-lighthouse combination as an archive node and a besu/teku combination as a validating node.
I started out with a simple NUC (NUC8i5BEH) in 2020 to support the genesis of the beacon chain. It still works and now serves as a Rocket Pool validator. Minimizing downtime and missed attestations became a sport for me, so I invested in some UPS units to ensure my systems always remain operational. I also began transitioning my validators to a separate machine, allowing my main computer to enter maintenance mode while my validators automatically fall back to a secondary node (ROCK5B board with EthereumOnArm).
My main machine, the ASRock B650D4U, takes this a step further by supporting remote access via IPMI. This means it can be remotely accessed over a separate Ethernet cable, allowing for remote boot-ups or restarts. Below are its specifications:
Motherboard | ASRock B650D4U |
Processor | AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core (32 threads) at 5.88GHz |
Memory | 128GB ECC RAM |
Storage | 14 TB SSD |
Network | IPMI for Remote Access |
The main purpose of this machine will, of course, be for Eigenlayer AVS', and there's plenty of capacity to run a wide set of them as they become available.
